National Pre-School Curriculum

Preschool education aims to develop the potential of children between the ages of four to six in a comprehensive and integrated manner with respect to their physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and social development in a safe and enriching learning environment through fun, creative and meaningful activities.

Communication

Malay, English, Chinese—listening, speaking, reading & writing skills.

  • Besides daily portfolio, we conduct a two one-to-one sessional assessment annually. (Formative assessment & summative assessment)

  • Parent-teacher meeting is arranged after each assessment to update and support the children's growth. (Photos)

  • Teachers frequently review their teaching approach and work closely with the parents to provide a balanced and practical support for the children.

Physical & Aesthetical

Development comprises fine motor skills, gross motor skills, manipulative skills and rhythmic movement which are the basis for various complex movements which are needed for life. We engaging them in a variety of physical learning either foundation lesson or outdoor activities that encourage the physical growth through play and hand-on experiences.

Creativity & Aesthetics

Music and movement can be developed into various creative activities which are fun and entertaining. Students are given opportunities to show their talents and interests in exploring the music world at their own stages of development. The story telling, poem declamation, singing and dancing are the activities carry out as competition or stage performances annually treat for this purpose.

Humanity

We interweave knowledge of the six NPCS components using thematic approaches. Hands-on, play-based and experimentally supported projects and outdoor activities are organised to deliver knowledge and instil values. Each syllabus will begin from the known moving towards the unknown, then it advances from the micro view and expands into a broader perspective:

Myself - My Family- My School-My Community-My Country-My Mother Earth

In doing so, this method brings our vision into succession.

Among the many thematic based projects and activities of TMC

  • Family – Family photo frame project: Exploring the family unit.

  • Nationalism – Merdeka poem and traditional costume competition in August. In doing so, children learned about occupations in the community, patriotic values and engaged with the community.

  • Environment – Recycle project: Participating in monthly recycling program by bringing recycle items from home.

Self Portray (Personal Competence)

The development of this competence is important as it is the basis for building positive self-concept and enables pupils to face challenges in the future which are emphasises on knowing and managing one’s emotions; as well as building social skills. The children are nurtured to be self-discipline and always be corporate in outdoor learning either conduct in project based, field trip or collaboration program.

  • Farming—develop positive attitudes such as being patient to grow the crop from seed to plate.

  • Visiting the elderly living alone—develop positive attitudes such as being sympathetic and empathetic to people that need help.
