Reading

At TMC, reading is a core value, as we believe in the transformative power of reading to equip children with essential skills for their lifelong journey.

At TMC, we embrace reading as a foundational pillar, recognizing that the power of books can unlock a world of knowledge and imagination for children, equipping them with invaluable skills for their lifelong journey. We have made reading an integral part of our curriculum because we believe in its transformative potential. Every week, our children embark on literary journeys, exchanging storybooks in three languages to bring home. We invite parents to join this journey, reading with their children and capturing these precious moments through visual or written reflections.

As Carl Sagan wisely said, "One of the most valuable gifts adults can offer - to their own children and to their community - is to read to kids." This emphasizes the profound impact of reading, not just on individual children, but on the entire community. Sagan's perspective underscores the crucial role of adults in a child's education through reading.

Building on this, the African proverb, "It takes a community to raise a child," highlights the collaborative effort required in a child's education. This proverb reinforces Sagan's viewpoint, extending the responsibility of nurturing a child's love for reading and learning to the entire community, emphasizing that it is a joint endeavor.

Louis L'Amour further emphasizes this interconnectedness by stating, "A parent or a teacher has only their lifetime; a good book can teach forever." This quote links the temporary influence of parents and teachers with the lasting impact of books, showing how the efforts of individuals and communities in promoting reading can leave a lasting legacy through literature.

By fostering a love for reading, we aim to instill in our children a lifelong passion for learning and exploration, supported by the collective efforts of parents, teachers, and the community.
